Is it breakfast or dessert?

This morning, I was really craving carb-heavy, delicious, fluffy, sugary baked or fried goods. Yes, I think I covered all my bases there.

I think that this was an example of what I call "hangover carbing" - when I eat a lot of carbs or drink a diet soda the day before and wake up craving sugar or carbs the next day. After dinner at Chipotle (complete with diet coke, my fourth this month!), I woke up ready to gnaw through pancakes, donuts and muffins.

I figured out that the best way to get through these hangovers is to give my body a little of what it wants, but not to go overboard. Check out how I challenged this craving today:

Looks delicious, right? Well, after working out and running some errands (and missing breakfast, ahem), I went for a little brunch activity. I put blackberries on the bottom of my bowl, 1/2 cup fat-free vanilla frozen yogurt, strawberries and one frozen whole wheat waffle, which I toasted until pretty crisp. It was SO delicious, especially for 4 PP (2PP for waffle and 2PP for frozen yogurt). I had some regular yogurt on the side to beef up the protein factor - no pun intended - and to get in one of my dairy servings for the day. It turns out that frozen yogurt doesn't contain 25% of your daily calcium requirements. Boo.

I also love these new little bowls from Sur La Table that I picked up for 5.99 on clearance (after a very embarrassing situation where I knocked a bunch of bowls off the shelf and a pack of 5 hit the floor and went EVERYWHERE! ... thankfully, only Tim and the cashier saw how red my face was!). Each bowl has 2 different measurements, ranging from 1/8 cup to 2 cups. They're great, and they really help with portion control --- notice how my "dess-fast" looks like it's about to spill out over the bowl, but is only 4PP? That's a win-win, babies!

Oh, here's a link to these bowls at Sur La Table.com in case you want to pick up your own set of Prep Bowls while they're on clearance!!!

My only dilemma is whether this meal is breakfast or dessert... oh, well, it was like a french vanilla orgasm in my mouth --- and who really cares at that point, anyway?!
